Parent Involvement at Â鶹´«Ã½

Â鶹´«Ã½ parents are valued partners in cultivating our school culture — one that is inclusive, connected, and caring.

Our administrators, faculty, staff, and families from across New York City and beyond are united by a shared commitment to innovative education for gifted learners. Together, we work to ensure that every family feels welcomed and supported, and that every student experiences school as a place of warmth, curiosity, and boundless possibility.

From attending grade and divisional curricular events to volunteering as a parent grade representative to serving as a member of one of the Parents Association committees, parents are an essential participant in the life of the school.

This school-home partnership is rooted in a genuine sense of belonging. Strong connections between home and school foster student well-being and learning. Parent involvement at Â鶹´«Ã½ takes many forms, reflecting the understanding that meaningful engagement looks different for every family. The collaborative ethos at Â鶹´«Ã½ — rooted in communication, trust, and respect — reflects Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s belief that a gifted child’s education is most impactful when families and educators move forward together.

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Parents Association is active and energetic with a dedicated mission to nurture a vibrant and lasting community among Â鶹´«Ã½ parents, students, faculty, and staff. It plays a crucial role in supporting the learning environment for all of our students and strives to enrich the Â鶹´«Ã½ community as a whole.

Throughout the year, the Parents Association facilitates a range of both in-school and out-of-school activities and events for our students and their families, various community service initiatives, and (most importantly) constructive dialogue with fellow parents and Â鶹´«Ã½ faculty and staff.

All parents and those in a parental role are automatically welcomed as members of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Parents Association and there are numerous opportunities for everyone to donate their unique expertise and skills. The Â鶹´«Ã½ Parents Association is composed of an Executive Committee, Parent Grade Representatives, and Committee and Event Chairs. Committee meetings are open to any interested parent or those in a parental role.

Below is information on Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Parent Association committees. In addition, throughout the year, there are multiple in-person and virtual Parent Association meetings. They provide an opportunity to learn about school news and events, hear from school administrators and faculty, and to come together as a community.

Chess Committee

Working with the school’s Chess instructors, volunteers help inform parents of Chess happenings outside of Â鶹´«Ã½, assist families of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Chess Team at various tournaments, and provide other help as needed.
