Â鶹´«Ã½’s Physical Education program offers our students an educational and fun experience.

Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Physical Education curriculum is aligned to the National Physical Education Standards and infused with the research-based curriculum found in our classrooms. The program incorporates elements to provide those learning experiences that meet a gifted student’s developmental needs. When a student’s physical well-being is engaged and solid, they have improved mental alertness, academic performance readiness, and increased enthusiasm for learning.
In their classes, students build a foundation of fitness skills through a myriad of activities, including muscle strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
At Â鶹´«Ã½, we realize that along with physical skills, strong character is just as important in athletic ability. Starting in Kindergarten and continuing through Eighth Grade, we teach life skills such as responsibility, patience, self-control, and sportsmanship. Students are tasked to design, plan, and execute movement and fitness concepts, as well as cooperate with each other to develop strategies during competitive games. Positive competition, respect for others, and the satisfaction of doing one’s best are all essential components of a typical Physical Education class at Â鶹´«Ã½.
In the Lower School, students are taught basic sport-specific motor and manipulative skills such as throwing, catching, and creative movement. As they grow, we strive to build a solid foundation which encourages students to become familiar and comfortable with various movement concepts. P.E. classes happen two times per each six-day cycle, and the entire grade has P.E. at the same time so our students are able to work with everyone in the grade. Additionally, Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s INspeyerED Afterschool offers a multitude of sport and physical options, ranging from fencing to soccer, parkour to dance.
Our Middle School Physical Education program is designed to help students build self-confidence and promote cooperation and fair play while having fun, as well as to encourage lifetime fitness and wellness practices. The curriculum includes the study and practice of team and individual sports such as volleyball, handball, basketball, flag football, soccer, floor hockey, and pickleball as well as health-related and skill-related fitness and rhythm and dance. P.E. classes happen two times per each six-day cycle in Middle School. Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s INspeyerED Afterschool also offers numerous sport and physical options, ranging from fencing to yoga.
Â鶹´«Ã½ is proud to be a member of the American International Private School League, and Middle School students are eligible to participate on Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s competitive afterschool teams, including Soccer, Cross-Country, Boys and Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls Basketball, and Track and Field (read more about Dragon Athletics here)!

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Terrace is a very well-used and well-loved space. It’s an all-purpose space for students and teachers (and even sometimes parents themselves)! We have a full court for volleyball and a half-court for basketball. Aside from use during Recess and P.E. classes, teachers also utilize this space during other class times — for example, on a nice day, a Debate class may be held there or a Science class might conduct an outdoor experiment.

We value the time for our Dragons to move their bodies during the day. Recess time takes place every day in either the gym, on the Terrace, or at a nearby park. When the weather is not cooperating, Recess is held on the Boulevard or within the classroom.
